it felt like shit to be runners-up though we won the champions twice this season. sometimes, consistency matters more than anything. well, at least we look like we're building our foundation. what more can i say? definitely, a serious title contender next season (:

reflection on adiv'09?

the loss over acsi marked the end of our tournament. urmm however, we have achieved nat'l top 6 which is never a thing in the history of ijc hockey. i thought it was quite a pity. our skills were on par with some of the "supposedly seeded" colleges but we were eliminated due to our lack of experience. we made too many mistakes throughout the whole pitch. forwards didnt capitalise, defenders misjudged. who in the team would want all these to happen? no fingers should be pointed cus we were all too inexperienced. in fact, we should give ourselves a round of applause and a pat on the back cus that was the best we could do though we got thrashed etc. it was not an easy task at all to go so far. to pit ourselves with players and teams who have been in this sport longer than us. im sure everyone gave their everything and to come to think of it, i think we guys did a fantastic job (not to action or what). most of us picked up the sport only in march last year. we didnt even have a proper coach and proper training ground. the number of pitch training was pathetic and inconsistent (i think teachers n coach have done their best) but i thought the school could have done more. it was an uphill task to play in adiv, let alone to qualify to the quarters. i could still remember clearly tt when we first know of the adiv draw, we were all demoralised. our grouping kinda suck big time cus with mi rj acjc around, we wont stand a chance. we were doubting ourselves, some players didnt turn up for training, conflicts n all but we managed to stay as a team in march camp n eventually went all the way out to win mi and draw ac. it was definitely a good experience.
though season has ended, memories will stay.

drew acjc 0-0. kinda wasted cus we had quite a number of chances in front of goal but we just failed to convert. mixed feelings. happy cus we lost acjc 1-0 for the past two years and we finally earned tt point in 2009. disappointed cus it could have been 2 more points n we would have straight away advanced into 2nd round. it's good as in we should take this chance to work on our weaknesses. anyway ive to apologise to dom cus i always pushed up too high and he had to do all the shit. sorry dom! and i swear it wont happen again (:
had been involved in training and games last weekend. didnt really catch much sleep. it was tiring but luckily, xp was there for me. hmm weekend with her was good (as usual). shucks. today, i realised i didnt touch my work last weekend cus i went into tutorials empty handed :( tt's not the way maaaaan. i seriously have to catch up with SCH WORK. work, not revision. so i guess i need to manage my time really well. i seriously dont look like im sitting for a's this year.

wee yup, fyi, we won MI 2-1 on mon. gotten the three points and it was definitely a day to be remembered as we went against all odds to win the game. n fyi again, innova hockey has scored 0 goals and won 0 games in adiv so we were really happy though to other schools, winning's very common. whatever it is, now we have to focus on our next game (ACJC). it's less than 24 hours and im feeling damn excited about it. i couldnt even concentrate on my studies these few days and this shows how impt this coming game is to me or to the whole team. argh ive got to go.

pace has been picking up straightaway after block test. anyway i took part in the pathetic 8x50m but i swear it was damn fun as we came in first cus we won the second team by approximately 0.5s haha phew. well whatever it is, my luck wasnt tt good this week cus i kinda injured my left ankle on wed's trg (but luckily it was just temporary pain) and i injured my right on thur's pe. im very injury-prone and im really sorry to all those who care about me (my family, xp and +++) it was kinda like warning to me that i should stop playing so much cus adiv's coming in a week's time. missed today's training cus i wanna have enough rest first before training the whole of next week. i really want to play at my peak and i will make sure i do. the pressure to play well is immense and i hope everyone's coping well with that.

it's after block test but i just dont get the joy i used to get after exams. probably i didnt put in lots of effort. it just feels so weird. im gonna fail all my papers and i used to tell myself adiv's more important but i guess i was kidding myself all along. if ive been consistent in my work, exams shouldnt be a problem esp so when the papers were easy. the feeling of knowing the papers were easy but you just didnt know how to do sucks. it's damn weird to go into the exam hall, knowing that you're unprepared and getting ready to fail. it's like carrying no weapons when you enter a battlefield. you're totally raped. i really hate the feeling. that will be my first and the laaaaast...

the photos have done the talking, i guess. thanks people, for uploading those photos (: was relatively slack due to the long breaks in between. induction was kinda lame as you can tell but it's all about the memories. the black seaweed shampoo was damn pooooower cus we used the whole bottle but only after which, i realised i didnt have shampoo for the next day. aaaand it was always nice to break camp with a nice victory. though the opponents kinda cocked up, i enjoyed our play. going for every single ball, screaming our lungs out as we called for the ball and stuff. we were really fired up that day (like liverpool heh) haha and i really hope this would last at least till end of may?

kinda frustrated at training sessions nowadays. or maybe even after the adiv draw. instead of stepping up our training sessions to reach our peak for adiv, sessions have actually slackened. it seems like some of us have given up hope, are not putting in the effort and not going the extra mile. some of us have already resigned to fate that we only have three matches to play for adiv. the desire to achieve our best in adiv has disappeared. the only excuse i can come out with is that block test is round the corner and everyone's busy with their school work and i really hope that's the case. i always wear a long face during training cus i was affected by yáll. your actions and behaviours affect me a great deal and from what yall are doing, i seriously dont see the fighting spirit. actually it's not just me who felt it that way. ash etc. and even philo, who's always ranting non stop, has expressed his concern over this issue. i understand you guys were quite pissed that i left early during jj match. sorry, my bad by setting the wrong example. and obviously i wont commit such mistake again. well, i think the main point about this post is that we have to be strong and believe in ourselves. we're capable of achieving good result and we just need to stay strong as a team and have a common belief. if we think we will lose, we have already lost. and why do we still register for adiv? in this crucial period, i hope we give our best in training and work as a unit. sometimes it's the team spirit that makes the difference. it's okay if we didnt get through to the second round. at least, we tried. i know the process will be tough but we just have to hang in there. we might not see the fruits of our labour but it's the memories that count.
cmon guys. it's our last adiv, our last school competition. i wonder when will be the next time we can play together as a team. so i sincerely urge yall to cherish this opportunity.

had been a long week for me. extra lectures, mountain of tutorials and training. went to watch the gurls' match on wed @ delta, training on fri in sch, training at NTU till 11am on sat and carnival from 1-7pm. spent about 10 hours playing hockey at boonlay. we did quite okay at the carnival by entering quarter finals. wasted. lost UWC by a goal :( but no regrets cus we gave our best. im quite stressed now cus i've a lot of catching up work to do. i better stop blogging and see which tutorial i should start with.

two days of holiday aint enough to spend quality time with relatives. this year's cny is rather boring. didnt really talk, just ate all the way and laughed at nephews. there are so many new members to the big family of mine. 3 generations if im not wrong. all of a sudden, i realised that there are three babies around me. despite the chaotic situation, i guess everyone had a great time taking turns to feed, bathe and entertain those babies. in the process, they perspired but could still see smiles on their faces at the end of the day. the whole place became more lively which i hardly witness. it may seem like a joyous occasion but to me, it's again kind of 'a mixed feeling' thing for me cus as years pass by, there are new additions to the family but on the other hand, i realised my parents or in fact my aunties n uncles have aged alot. felt so help-less. we cant pause life just like how we pause in computer games. we just have to keep moving and play along no matter how desperate we want to pause 'life'. i dont know why the f im blogging about this. i guess the main point of this entire entry is to cherish.

been quite some time since i logged in to make an entry. have been busy with school work n trg. friendly games with a couple of schools but just didnt get the desired results. we can score countless at small sided games suchas in hockey village but we just couldnt apply the final touch on 11v11. obviously theres something wrong n we need to change asap. besides hockey, im also trying to catch up with school work :(
school's boring as usual. attending lectures n tutorials one after the other. PE is hell for guys this yr. esp for unfit guys like me who merely scraped through pull-ups. i better start hitting the gym, do some dumb bells etc before i regret.

anyway, as usual, GP teacher discussed some newspaper articles today which i thought were interesting. esp the one on federer which the headline states that mortal federer faces a test of character.

fitness's so blardy impt. thais may be technically strong especially offensive wise but i think their reluctance to start defending from the top had let them down. they allowed the vietnam team to build up at the back and thus, opponents started attacking into their half with speedy passes. the thais defended too deep and once they got back the ball, the vietnam team started to defend with their quick covering. i wonder what their lungs were made of. they were all over, helping one another out. the never-say-die attitude impressed me and those who caught them play. once again, they built up their play through speedy passes. the shape of the team was there and it was a joy to watch them play. well, my point is that you can do anything with fitness and basics. most importantly, it's to play as a unit.

2008 's quite a significant year for me as im moving on to a new chapter of my life. gotten back O's result and i didnt get to the college that i wanted. was posted to innova. the transition from secondary sch to jc was great and i took some time to settle down. i never thought of picking up a hockey stick after 5 years since i last touched. ijc doesnt provide a great variety of niche ccas to choose from so i thought hockey will be good as they have strong culture. the feeling was mainly created by hakim's batch whereby they were so enthu about everything and tried their very best to get everything started. they were the most bonded bunch of people in ij. very commited and passionate about hockey. was impressed so i joined. gotten into the team and played a div. lost most of the games. hate that feeling. weeeeell, soon after, it was summer test. flunked badly. thought i knew most of the stuff. in the end, i failed every paper terribly. only managed to pass mother tongue. was devastated and lost. began to question myself whether going to jc was the right path for me. trained floorball during june holiday. made frequent trips down to valhall. spent quite a lot cus we have to pay for court bookings-.- didnt have any coach but melvin came along to help out. enjoyed myself during that period of time. we played like -.- 3 years old kids on the court. got thrashed badly. but we came close during the yj match. lost 3-2 but i thought that was the best floorball match of my life cus i gave everything i had to the team. we lost and i cried secretly? hate that feeling. gave everything but still lost eventually. the feeling suck. okaay, after floorball adiv, i was back to my books and training hockey. school hockey was pretty slaack. went for C&C trg and learnt quite a great deal but was pretty upset when they left us out of the squad. pw was hell. promos were approaching. at that period of time, i was still giving myself lots of options. thoughts such as "go poly! just retain!" kept appearing in my mind but i thought why not just stfu and study as much as possible. eventually, i managed to pass all my subjs due to the screwed up moderation by the college.
thats 2008 for me.
2009 will be the most challenging year for me.
for 2009, i want to stop slacking, my loved ones to be happy, to get good grades, to emphasize 'team before self'''to my team mates, to proceed for second round adiv and a good napfa result.

i'm pretty vexed over certain stuff. i just cant drive the point across to all. yeah sometimes i dont agree with what he's doing, but i must admit that he's developing our characters and to instill discipline. we're going nowhere w/o discipline. i want to create a positive image and allow our batches of juniors to carry on but firstly, we must break out of the viscious cycle. the first step will always be hard but are we going to give up? i wont but everyone needs to cooperate. if we give up just because it's difficult, our juniors will follow and we'll be trapped in this cycle, carrying on procrastinating about how we get knocked out at the first round and how the tactics failed. after 10 years, 20 years, 50 years, we will still stand on the same spot.

had an awesome weekend with friends and relatives. been sleeping and eating for the past few days. i love it totally. to add on, liverpool won chelsea at stamford bridge. the reds broke their record and most importantly, had a 3 pt edge over chelsea to stay top in the table. we have to be consistent lah, no point winning chelsea and losing the rest of the matches. aiyah no point talking about it here. this thing is everywhere, in the newpapers and football-related websites.

didnt go sch for five days(and still counting?) kinda missed school.
i went back to my family doctor after taking 3 days of his medication. he didnt know what to do so he recommended me to go ttsh a&e first and ask for an eye specialist. went there and waited for like an hour. quite an irony dont you think so? a&e. hmm after which, waited for the doctor and was sent to take photograph of my left eye. after which she examined it and realised that there were actually minor cuts. the bill was booomb, nonetheless, i just cant wait for tmr's appointment cus the specialist is waaaaaaaaay too attractive.

after a week of serious consideration, ive given up. i guess it's the trepidation to step into unclear boundaries. there were simply no opportunities for me. they said, you will have to create them. tried but realised that there was nothing to start with. so there was no point. well, played futsal with zw and some j2s on friday (pronounced as free-day) afternoon. enjoyed myself. partnering zw always makes my day. isnt gay-ing here cus you never know how good it feels to have someone beside you, who truly understands you. sports, and in life. thats zw for you. hahaha!

wanted to eat somewhere near raffles places just now but was raining. the moment we walked out of the shelter, we were greeted by fireworks. haha okay so we went to marina square's thai express for dinner. was yummy. softshell crabs, prawn fritters, tofu squares, tomyum soup, green curry chicken and kangkong. after the sumptuous dinner, we went to walk around and ended up at merlion park. basically we cam-whored there like nobody's business and as if we were tourists. well, i'll let the photos do the talking.

had my oral mt on friday. haaaai, kinda screwed up. rushed to dhoby ghaut to meet the rest to go valhall to train, 1900-2130. had a game agst SP. haha andre was funny. cus he man-marked a kinda chubby gurl and when he was man-marking, he accidentally touched that lump of fats on her chest. and the gurl told him, 'aye, your man-marking good uh'. haha oppps. dont sound funny but if you hear andre tell you this, you will burst out laughing and roll on the floor like how a pig roll in the mud. okay hmm had debrief and dinner. caught the last train home and by the time i reached home, it was almost one. what's worse was that i had to meet arjun and co. at eastcoast, 5am to help out in the osim triathlon. was to get cip hours. was fun yet tiring. eventually, escaped to get home to catch some sleep. and how, here i am, making an entry.

wake me up from the nightmare. pinch me. it hurts. wasnt fake. it happened in reality. we were so clooooooooooooose. couldnt really accept the fact that we're out of the tournament. to come to think of it, something similar happened to me. could still remember vividly on that fateful morning, it was raining cats and dogs while we played agst marsiling primary. game went on to penalties shootout(was a quarterfinal match). we were out before i could take mine. we got crushed out of semis. that happened when i was in p5 and i didnt know it hurts so much. and now the same thing happened. lost to yj by 3-2. when the final whistle was blown, i couldnt help it as tears welled up my eyes. floorball and winning meant too much to me. putting hockey and studies on hold, to train for floorball and now the ending's kinda sad. i'm in deep shit now. afraid that i couldnt catch up etc. eventually to get retained. what a costly price to pay and obviously i dont want to. do yknow how it feels to lose so many things in just a few months? if only we took the chances, if only i didnt make the stupid pass, if only one of our hits went in. countless 'if-only'. you'll only realise the importance of something after losing. we played our best but we still lost. or maybe like what philo said, your best aint enough. after the game, taufiq came to comfort me but it didnt help. tears went down uncontrollably. hai, feeling terrible now. still cant get over the loss. will make an entry some other time...

woah just finished watching 'glory road'. real touching and inspiring. it's about american basketball, racism (color difference), playing with your heads up and stuff. hard to elaborate here but seriously, a good and touching show. tears kind of like welled up my eyes and stuff. so y'know how touching it was. 'showboating's just insecurity.' i like this phrase. hmm this phrase was used when the coach asked them to play fundamental basketball and yeah, good players play simple.

went to cineleisure to have dinner with jeff, zw and becky. walked along the streets of Orchard Road. slacked around and stuff. when we're about to go home, we walked past wisma and saw this band performing at the pub. they were singing 'stop and stare'. woah was damn nice. alright, we thought the night was still young(when it was already 11pm), so we went clarke quay to chill out w/o jeff cus he had to go home. yeah, bought breezers from 7-11-.- and sat by the river, had a drink and chatted under the moonlight. was good, i tell you. haha, wanted to cab home at around one plus but becky started talking about ghosts, in the end, we were too scared to go home. so we cabbed home at only 4am.

went to chill out at city hall with usual gays just now. window-shopped? and realised there are so many attractive stuff out in the market but they all come with costs. some may find window shopping a bore but to me, it was motivation. it motivates me to study harder so that i can have better life in future. it was kinda paradox. windowshopping motivates me to study harder but why am i window shopping instead of studying harder? argh, another example of 'life's full of contradictions'. and yeah, blardy hell. term 3 will be starting soon, er, in one week time? looking forward term3(adiv floorball) but no on the other hand(all the mugging, getting back summer tests and stuff) oh man. i realise it's another example. daaamn. alright, i shall stop all these cus you get my point.
